Privacy Policy
Last updated 19 October 2026
Drop Day - Music ("Drop Day", "we", "us") is made by Gareth Shannon. This policy explains what we collect when you use the app, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, your password (stored only as a secure one-way hash), and your username and display name.
- Profile details you choose to add: avatar emoji and colour, bio, favourite genres, top albums, preferred music service, and whether your stats are visible to others.
- What you do in your clubs: the clubs and rotations you create or join, the albums and tracks you drop, your ratings, and the messages you post in discussions. These are shared with the other members of that club.
- Notifications: if you allow push notifications, a device token so we can send you reminders and drop alerts.
- Reports and blocks: if you report something, we keep the report, a copy of what was reported and who sent it, so we can act on it. If you block someone, we keep that so their messages stay hidden from you.
- Feedback you send: your message, plus your username, email, the club you were in, the app version and your device model, so we can follow up and fix problems.
We do not collect your location, contacts or photos, we do not use advertising identifiers, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
How we use it
Only to run Drop Day: to sign you in, show your clubs and drops, send the reminders you've asked for, work out stats, and respond to feedback. We don't sell your information or use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
- Other members of your clubs see your display name, avatar, drops, ratings and discussion messages in the clubs you belong to.
- Supabase hosts our database and handles sign-in.
- Expo delivers push notifications to your device.
- Apple (iTunes Search) and Deezer are searched when you look up music. Only your search words are sent, never your account details.
- Odesli (song.link) opens when you tap a listen link, to send you to your music service.
We may also share information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, we delete your login, profile, ratings, chat messages and queued Drops straight away. Drops you already shared stay in the club's history so its record still makes sense, shown as "Former member" with nothing that identifies you. Reports about you or by you are kept, without your account attached, so we can deal with abuse.
Your choices
- Edit your profile at any time in the app.
- Turn notifications off in each club's settings, or in your phone's Settings.
- Delete your account at any time in the app: Profile > Account > Delete account.
- Ask us to send you a copy of your information, or correct it, by emailing [email protected] from the address you signed up with.
Security
Your information is sent over encrypted connections and stored with access rules so that only you and your club members can see what's meant for them.
Children
Drop Day is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has signed up, email us and we'll delete the account.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top, and for important changes we'll let you know in the app.
